Course Description
Students will study literature written by African-descended writers from diverse communities of the African diaspora including the Americas, the Caribbean, and Europe. Works will be in English or read in translation. Themes include freedom, equality, historical memory, aesthetics, identity, and the role of vernacular traditions.
