NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT: CULTURE & PRESERVATION
Course Description
This experiential, hands-on seminar is designed to immerse students in the methodologies, conventions, and ethical standards of operating a 501(c)3 non-profit institution dedicated to cultural heritage and historic preservation in New Jersey. The seminar explores the full extent of operational procedures such as managing charity registrations, tax-exemptions, annual budget development, profit/loss analysis, payroll, insurance and worker's compensation, county and state level grant applications, final reports, NJ State/National Historic Register applications, stewardship of historic properties, historic preservation, program development and implementation, long-range plans, effective community engagement, and fundraising.
