Course Description
This course explores our own species (Homo sapiens) from a biological and evolutionary perspective, including the function of genetics, the processes of adaptation, and the production of variation over the course of primate and human development. The nature of the fossil record from the earliest hominins through modern humans will be analyzed, including archaeological dating techniques and DNA studies and forensic investigative techniques. The concept of race and its origin will be discussed, including social, cultural, political and environmental implications.
