Course Description
A previous course in art/art history, philosophy, or literature highly recommended. Does art save us from truth, or does it reveal something deeper? Art-making is self-discovery, critique, destruction, recreation, and how divine-nature outsources its work. This course focuses on theories of art and creativity that will inspire our sensibility, from Plato, Schiller, Dilthey, Wittgenstein, and Lyotard, among other classic, romantic, and postmodern theorists. There will be an added creative emphasis on art-studio style projects, as well as review-style articles.
