Course Description
Prerequisite: ARTV 2175 recommended but not required. Formerly titled Byzantine Art and Architecture. Not open to those with credit for ARTV 3340. Exploration of the material culture and monuments of the Middle Ages from the fourth to the fourteenth century in Europe. Emphasis is given to form, style, function and especially underlying meanings and symbolism of sacred objects and the buildings that housed them.
