Course Description

Prerequisite: Two of the following courses: GAH 1259, ARTV 1125, Introduction to 2D Design (ARTV 1161 or ARTV 1165) or Introduction to 2D Digital Design (ARTV 1164 or ARTV 1167), Introduction to Drawing (ARTV 1162 or ARTV 1166), or Introduction to 3D Design (ARTV 1169 or ARTV 1168) and (ARTV 2920 or Portfolio Review Y) or Permission of Instructor. Working knowledge of Photoshop is recommended. This is a beginning level three-dimensional computer animation course. The course covers basic keyframe animation concepts, FK (forward kinematics), IK (inverse kinematics), and rigging for character animation. The lessons are taught while learning basic quantitative thinking skills that are essential to 3D motion graphics including understanding x,y,z coordinates, timing, distance and speed, visual and numerical manipulation. No prior experience with 3D software is required.
