Course Description
This course is designed to give students a physical understanding of how fundamental structure and reactivity principles from CHEM II and CHEM III can be established for general reaction mechanisms, and proven experimentally. The first half of the course will establish the conceptual framework for understanding structure and reactivity with various theoretical models. The second half of the course will focus on using the tools available to organic chemists to discern underlying reaction mechanisms. In the supplementary topics section, these experimental tools will be applied to modern problems in organic chemistry and related fields.
