Course Description

The purpose of this course is to examine the ethical, legal and professional issues unique to professional counselors. The focus of this course will be on the principles of ethical decision-making, professional codes of conduct for counselors and considerations for the unique counseling relationship and therapeutic context. Legal constructs, including confidentiality and competency issues, will be addressed through both lectures and case study examples. Professional training requirements and options are discussed.
