Course Description

Not open to students with credit for CRIM 2101. This course teaches the legal concepts of constitutional law and offers an in-depth examination of the constitutional issues that affect criminal justice professionals. We will examine constitutional law cases that affect the major stages of the criminal justice process from arrest to the trial, with an emphasis on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and the 14th Amendment. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to identify certain landmark decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States, explain those decisions, and understand their impact on the interaction between criminal justice professionals and citizens today.
