VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: AN INTERNATIONAL APPROACH
Course Description
This course will give students an understanding of international research on different stages of violence against women, highlighting topics such as female feticide, gender mutilation, teen dating violence, sexual harassment, spousal abuse/wife beating/intimate partner violence, child/elderly abuse and other forms of domestic abuse. We will explore various definitions and laws on domestic violence as prescribed by each country covered during the course. Assigned readings of theoretical and empirical interest along with book chapters, class discussions, small-group activities/discussions and a research paper will be key components in students' overall learning.
