Course Description

Not open to students with credit for CRIM 3610. This course provides a comprehensive examination of gangs in America. Such an examination will focus on the history of gangs, characteristics of gangs, causes of gangs, types of gangs, including ethnic, racial and prison gangs, and gangs in schools. It will also examine the criminal justice response to gangs and strategies designed to control gangs. It will specifically focus on suppression, intervention, and prevention programs.
