Course Description

Prerequisite: Baccalaureate degree from accredited institution. Add this lineADML, FPSY, JUST elective.The course explores how the United State criminal justice system views and addresses the use of legal and illegal drugs. Topics to be covered include: the history of drug use and prohibition in the U.S.; the types and psychophysiological effects of drugs currently available in the United States; patterns, trends, and scope of illicit drug use; the relationship between drugs and crime; and the nature and impact of the criminal justice system response to drugs.
