Course Description

Prerequisite: Open only to Dance, Music, and Theatre majors and minors. Permission of instructor required. Beginning Jazz Dance introduces students to musicality, improvisation, technique, and individuality. Class includes warm-up, stretch/conditioning, across the floor, and center phrase work. Students will hone in on rhythm, coordination, core balance, and strength training, and will watch footage and write reflections on dancers/choreographers who embody Jazz forms.
