The course explores literature and theory on factors that shape communication across cultural groups, with attention to policy implications in today's world, particularly within education. Students apply this understanding to real-world communication among diverse ethnic groups. Additional topics include ethnography of language, language variation, nonverbal communication, and sociolinguistics.
