Course Description
In this course, freshmen will explore the relationship between business/industry and the arts, specifically focusing on literature and publishing, film and production/distribution, and music and production/recording. The aim of the course to determine with a critical eye how business/industry influences the production of cultural values and aesthetics, how those values and aesthetics have changed over time, and the subsequent relationship between commercial aspects and artistic aspects of culture - both high culture and popular culture.
