Course Description
This course focuses on the roots, development and history of rock music as an art form. Contributions from the blues, gospel, rhythm and blues, country and western, folk and grassroots, and Tin Pan Alley will be included in the roots of rock and roll. The impact of rock and roll on the breakdown of racial barriers will be emphasized. The development and history will be shown through various time periods, artists and styles from the 1950s through the 1990s.
