Course Description
Not open to students who have completed GAH 1082.This course explores the ways that live theater works as both a product and a producer of culture. The first part of the course deals with the roots of theater, and the roles and functions of various theatrical specialties- playwrights, directors, actors, and designers. In the second part, the course looks at the role of theater and drama as artistic expression, and as a form of communication. This course is structured as a lecture/discussion course with practical exercises. Attending local performances, outside class hours, will be occasionally required.
