NINETEENTH-CENTURY ART
Course Description
Not open to students with credit for ARTV 3610 or GAH 1050. This course focuses on the history of western art from approximately 1780 to 1920. Classes will consist of a mix of slide-lectures and discussion. Emphasis is on major artists, their work and cultural setting, and the development of artistic styles during this period. We will consider Realists including Courbet and Goya, Impressionists including Manet and Monet, and Post-Impressionists including Van Gogh and Gauguin.
