WRITING ABOUT LITERATURE AND CULTURES
Course Description
Students who take this course will read short stories, poems and novel excerpts, from writers who represent a range of ethnic groups and social classes in America. The writings were selected for their ability to shed light on the significance of particular cultural beliefs and practices in the elaboration of literary themes. As a writing intensive course, students will be instructed in various rhetorical strategies as they write the required long and short essays in response to the readings.
