Course Description
This course is a multidisciplinary survey of Mexico's evolution since the Revolution of 1910. Topics include post-Revolutionary government and politics, Mexico's late 20th century "dirty war", the end of one-party dominant rule in 2000, the emergence of the 21st century indigenous movements, and the evolution of Mexican culture in its artistic, literary, and cinematic perspectives, with particular emphasis on the New Wave of Mexican filmmakers.
