Course Description

This course will study the eerie relations of the human brain: Reason, Madness, and Faith and develop a theory of the structure of the ontology of horror. Horror will be studied both as fiction (genre) and as a basic makeup of reality (nature itself). As a backdrop of this course, the FX television series American Horror Story: Asylum will be used to extract themes for paper topics that will be worked on and edited for publication. Other texts include readings from the history of philosophy, film, Foucault's studies on madness, power/knowledge, institutions, along with readings in psychology, and theories of religion.
