Course Description
This course is designed as a multidisciplinary introduction to the history and culture of Guatemala, a small Central American nation that emerged from Spanish colonial control in the early 19th century only to find its land, resources, and people failing under the aegis of global corporations and the hegemony of American power at its Cold War height.
