THE GREAT WAR AND THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE
Course Description
This course covers the history of the Armenian Genocide from the end of the nineteenth century and into the twenty-first. Topics will include the cultural history of the Armenians and the contextual placement of the Armenian Genocide within the more broadly defined and longer entrenched genocidal events affecting this region. In addition, the course will focus on the role of the citizen and how this relates specifically to the Armenian Genocide, including long-term causes of genocide, the genocidal process, post-genocide efforts towards justice, and genocide denial and commemoration.
