Course Title

RACE AND GENDER IN AFRICAN AMERICAN ART

Course Description

This course will explore dynamics of race and gender in contemporary artworks by African American artists. Through a study of the conceptual strategies in the work of diverse artists we will discover multivalent meanings in performances of race, gender, and sexuality in the contemporary context.
