Course Description

This is a seminar course that covers human migration and displacement in political, social, cultural, legal, psychological, and/or policy contexts. Course topics include understanding displacement, refugees, asylum-seeking, immigration, forced migration, and mechanisms forcing people to move from home areas. In addition to examining scholarly research on migrants' experiences, students will also explore how different artistic mediums (e.g., visual art, music, poetry, film, theater, dance, etc.) are used to communicate personal and group histories.
