Course Description

This course introduces the principles and applications of watershed hydrology, with a focus on understanding how water moves through and shapes natural systems. Students will learn to solve water budget problems and apply the water budget approach to real-world water and watershed management challenges. The course emphasizes quantitative skills, including the use of statistical and modeling techniques to predict and analyze factors influencing flooding, runoff, and erosion. Field experiences provide hands-on training in methods such as water quality sampling, channel morphology measurements, and stream discharge calculations. In addition, students will develop their ability to clearly communicate scientific findings through practice in technical writing. Offered every spring semester.
