CHANGING THE WORLD

Subject Code

GIS

Course Number

3321

Course Description

This course is against apathy; it is about motivating students to think about their influence in the world. By reading original texts by a variety of political figures including Guevara, Marx, Engels, Luxemborg, Ghandi, and cultural figures such as Bob Marley and Bob Dylan, students can reflect on how these individuals chose to live their lives and reshape the predominant world view. The course will require a good deal of reflective reading and writing, as students draw connections between the authors' ideas and their own. The course will also encourage students to think for themselves and act for themselves. I want students to rethink the power of their influence and question the cultural, political, and social climate they find themselves living in.
