Course Description

Throughout history, people have imagined or tried to create more perfect social structures, making possible greater justice, as well as richer personal and community life. They have also feared and critiqued oppressive, constricted, and regimented societies. In this course we will read utopian and dystopian literature, as well as the history of utopian or alternative communities.
