Course Description
Pure mathematics seems to establish its results by reasoning from indubitable premises using impeccable logic. "Axioms and Proofs" introduces students to this axiomatic method from both mathematical and philosophical perspectives. We will cover both the rudiments of mathematical proof, and some questions central to the philosophy of mathematics.
