Course Description
This course introduces students to the history of the Third Reich and Holocaust by visiting historical sites in Europe. The study tour component represents the experiential core of the course, enhancing on-campus readings and discussion. When possible, witnesses to the history - Holocaust survivors, veterans, and their descendants, accompany the study tour. In addition to the history of the Nazi era, topics include Jewish life both pre-and post-1933, how the twelve years of Nazi rule have affected all aspects of postwar culture, society and politics. Students complete individual study projects following our return to campus.
