Course Description
Gender is a significant factor affecting the structure, value, and meaning of work. The course examines the progress made toward gender equity in paid and unpaid work and obstacles that still remain. We will analyze the social, cultural, political, and economic forces that contribute to women's and men's positions in the labor force and public policies to achieve equity. The intersections of gender with class, race, ethnicity, and sexuality will also be explored.
