Course Description
In this course we will explore the history of ancient Egypt, from pre-dynastic cultures to the end of Hellenistic rule under Cleopatra. Political, social and religious history will be considered through primary and secondary sources featuring the lifestyles of kings, bureaucrats, craftspeople, farmers, women, and children. Our window on these ancient lives will be their own letters read in translation.
