Course Description

1900-present Course, American Literature Course. This course examines landscapes key to the understanding of American literature. We will map how literary place reflects and shapes individual and national identities. The course surveys various geographies in American literature, such as the city, the road, the wilderness and the home. The course may alternately focus on one or two particular regions of American identity to pursue a more intensive study of a specific narrative.
