Course Description

1900-present Course. American Literature Course and 20th-Century Contemporary Literature Course. Women's, Gender/Sexuality course. WGSS elective course. This course surveys twentieth- and twenty-first-century American women writers. Focusing primarily on fiction, we will trace the development and map the range of women's writing in this period. The course will particularly examine the gendered nature of writing, the ways gender inflects the reception of women's writing, and the roles gender plays in contemporary American culture.
