HUMAN RIGHTS, INTERNATIONAL LAW, AND TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE
Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the field of international human rights. Students will analyze the foundational theories pertaining to human rights, especially regarding their origins, universalism, and relativism in connection to today's international system. The seminar will also provide an overview of the major international institutions, political processes, and procedures by which human rights norms are established and enforced. Finally, throughout the semester students will identify and discuss the major trends, debates and prominent cases within the fields of transitional justice and international justice.
