Course Description
Not open to those with credit for ARTP 2242.Survey of music in Western European civilization from the time of Bach through the 21st century. Emphasis will be on the placement of music in the context of contemporary cultural, intellectual and historical events and movements. The course provides the student with a general overview of the musical periods involved and continued preparation for further studies in music. Research paper and in-depth listening assignments may be assigned.
