Course Description

This course focuses on the impact of the advanced level nurse on quality and safety in health care delivery and potential of improving health outcomes for individuals and populations through an analysis of research, health care policy, standards of care, and evidence-based practice guidelines. The course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as a member and leader of interdisciplinary groups with an emphasis on organizational and systems leadership to improve healthcare outcomes. The course will explore the use of quality improvement models, outcome measurement frameworks, identifying outcome measures, evaluating instruments, data collection methods, budgeting, interpreting, reporting, and the use of outcome data to improve practice and healthcare outcomes. Application to the DNP Project will be emphasized and students earn 50 DNP clinical hours in this course.
