Course Description

This course introduces students to professional concepts of the occupational therapy profession including professional behaviors, legislation, supervision, documentation, and practice settings. Students are introduced to historic and current health care policies and reform. Students are introduced to professional position papers and legislation outlining concepts such as occupational therapy scope of practice, licensure requirements, role in supervision, and ethics. Students develop an understanding of professional development, professional organizations, and personal and professional responsibilities to the occupational therapy profession. Offered fall semester only.
