Course Description

Clinical FW I and in class seminar. Students will complete a mandatory level I fieldwork placement with children and adolescents in a variety of practice settings. The Level I FW will emphasize observation of developmental milestones, impact of disability or illness on functional performance, observing informal and standardized assessments, clinical reasoning, interpersonal skills, and professional behavior skills while observing and participating with children and adolescents in a variety of play and other occupation-based interventions. The in-class seminar will include discussion of observations of evaluation and treatment planning, clinical reasoning, connection of intervention to frames of reference/theory, and goal development of client-centered, occupation-based care for children and adolescents. Offered Spring semester only.
