Course Description

This course continues development of professional knowledge and behaviors by addressing advocacy, funding of OT services, reimbursement, and global health. Students explore healthcare and legislative policies, reform, and all levels of advocacy are explored. Concepts of global health such as ethical responses during disasters in health care, OT's acute and long-term role in interprofessional disaster- response teams, and promoting health and well-being globally are addressed. Students become more familiar with promoting and advocating for occupational therapy to advance the profession and enhance client care.
