Course Description

Clinical FW I and in class seminar. Students will complete a mandatory level I fieldwork placement with older adult aged individuals with a variety of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial conditions in a variety of practice settings. The Level I FW will enhance observation skills, therapeutic use of self, professional behaviors, and clinical reasoning needed to enhance quality of life and occupational performance of older adults. The in-class seminar will emphasize observing and identifying strengths and impairments in occupational performance of older adults, documentation of assessments, occupational profiles, and treatment notes in a way that is consistent with various payor requirements, and planning and implementing interventions using models of practice, theories, and evidence that guides and informs OT practice with the older adult population. Offered Spring semester only.
