Course Description
A previous course in Philosophy and/or Music recommended. Cross-listed with MUSC 3120. This course joins the queen of the arts (music) with the queen of the sciences (philosophy) in an exploration of foundational concepts in a philosophical investigation of music. We will focus on Classical/Romantic music (1750-1900) and Modern and New music (1900-present). We will read, listen, and view examples of how music and philosophy reveal human and cosmic temporality.
