Course Description
This course examines the ideological and ethical frameworks that structure the contemporary political world. Students will enter into critical conversation with the key political terms shaping today's society, including populism, nationalism, environmentalism, feminism, resistance, democracy, and civility. Emphasis will be placed on making connections between ongoing political issues and the enduring ideas and debates underlying them. By exploring the contemporary manifestations of longstanding ideological disputes, students will develop an appreciation for the inherently contested nature of classic political ideas like power, justice, and freedom.
