Course Description

This American Politics course examines the political behavior of the American public and their representation in the political system. The course is broken into three sections. The first section is on public opinion, examining Americans' political attitudes, the sources of their attitudes, and how informed/sophisticated attitudes are. The second section examines Americans' political behavior, focusing on political participation and voting. The third section examines how American public opinion and behavior translate into representation in the political system, focusing on inequalities in political representation.
