NATURAL RESOURCE POLICY AND LAW
Course Description
This Law & Public Policy course provides a detailed examination of the legal, political, and economic factors that shape our use of, and impact on, natural resources. In addition, throughout the course, we will engage the moral, ethical, and philosophical perspectives and issues that shape our use and conservation of these resources. In particular, we will focus on two general areas of resource management: First, land use and planning, including grazing, forestry, water rights, mineral and energy extraction, and management of public lands; and Second, we will look at wildlife management, including an in-depth review of the endangered species act and is applications.
