Course Description

How do psychologists think about the construct of gender? How does gender identity develop and change across the lifespan? How has the idea of gender changed over time within psychology? This senior seminar seeks to explore these and other questions and how we arrive at answers from psychological and feminist perspectives on gender. A central concern of the course is exploring the concept, perception, and performance of gender through the lens of biology, society, culture, and history. Primary psychological research studies will be examined, presented, and discussed by students throughout the semester.
