Course Description
This course will examine the history and politics of antiviolence advocacy in the U.S. We will examine different models for addressing violence, including some that utilize criminal legal remedies and some that engage other systems such as education and healthcare. We will explore perspectives on the individual, interpersonal, systemic, and cultural roots and outcomes of violence. We will examine models of expertise, including perspectives on survivor engagement and the value of lived experience relative to academic and practitioner training.
