This course will examine the major political, cultural, social and religious developments in European history from the fall of Rome to the dawn of the modern age. It will examine barbarian Europe, the Carolingian era, the rise of Europe, the Crusades, the growth of the church, and the emergence of the Holy Roman Empire and other medieval kingdoms.
