To promote a sense of community among students, various University services, programs and facilities are provided to assist individuals and groups in fulfilling their educational goals.

Academic Achievement Programs

The mission of the Office of Academic Achievement Programs is to bridge equity gaps in student engagement in high impact practices (HIPs) to promote inclusive student success for all Stockton students. High impact practices are teaching and learning practices that are beneficial for college students from many backgrounds. These include, but are not limited to study abroad, internships, undergraduate research, and service-learning.

The Office of Academic Achievement Programs also houses the Board of Trustees Fellowship for Distinguished Students (BOT FDS). It provides financial support for student-initiated HIPs projects, especially those related to social justice and civic engagement, that support the educational philosophy and mission of Stockton University.

Athletics And Recreation

The Office of Athletics provides an inclusive, diversified, and egalitarian program of athletic and recreational activities that enhances the educational experience of the participants while promoting physical well-being, interpersonal relationships, sportsmanship, organizational skills, teamwork, and leadership. Through this programming, it is the goal of the office to enhance physical well-being, foster interpersonal relationships, and develop organizational skills and teamwork. The office is also responsible for the implementation of all intramurals, intercollegiate, club, and recreational sports programs. Athletics and Recreation encourages input from the University community to enhance the quality of program offerings and delivery of service.

Athletics Website

The Athletics website (stocktonathletics.com) is an excellent source of information for the Stockton community and parents/guardians. All areas of Athletics and Recreation are represented and updated regularly including athletic staff, intercollegiate sports scores and schedules, athletic training, intramurals and recreation, and the facilities’ schedules.

Intercollegiate Athletics

A goal for intercollegiate athletics at Stockton University is to provide student-athletes with the opportunity to participate in a highly selective and skilled sports program that provides a balance to academic life. The intercollegiate athletic program is integral to the institution and a way to enhance the quality of the educational experience. This works to enhance confidence and the team's concept, and school spirit and pride. The primary objective of the department is to foster academic excellence and graduation.

All student-athletes, coaches and athletic staff members are expected to abide by the principles of fair play and amateur competition. Each program is expected to recruit quality student-athletes regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity, and work toward achieving diversity in the composition of its team. Equal opportunities are provided for men’s and women’s sports. Each staff member must abide by the regulations of the NCAA, NJAC, Stockton University, and/or affiliated conferences and the laws of New Jersey.

Athletic Training Services

Athletic Training Services supports the entire athletics program through education, prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and functional return to play for athletic injuries. The staff includes three full-time certified athletic trainers, one part-time athletic trainer, several per diem athletic trainers, and a team of student first responders.

The Athletic Training Facility is open Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., by appointment, with additional hours as needed. Semester break schedules may be adjusted for in-season sports.

Athletic Injury Insurance

The University provides athletic injury insurance coverage for student-athletes during supervised intercollegiate sports activities. All athletic injuries must be reported to Athletic Training Services (ATS) in a timely manner. Insurance claims related to these injuries are filed and managed by ATS, located in the Sports Center, Room 309 (609-652-4544).

As of August 1, 2024, the NCAA offers Post-Eligibility Injury (PEI) insurance for athletes after they separate from the University. Injuries must first be reported and filed through ATS. Athletes may submit claims directly to the NCAA.

Students who use campus recreation facilities or participate in club or intramural sports are encouraged to maintain their own personal health insurance, as these activities are not covered under the University’s athletic injury insurance policy.

Intramural Recreational Council

The Intramural Recreational Council (IRC) was proposed in 1981 to enable students to have a vehicle for inputting their requests and ideas to the administration of the University, as a means to provide an array of intramural and recreational programming which will satisfy the desires of the Stockton community, as well as becoming a mechanism to allow the student users to more fully benefit from their activity fee dollars. Individuals wishing to propose additional activities for student participation are invited to speak with an officer or advisor of the Council. Intramural Sports

The intramural program, which consists of flag football, volleyball, dodgeball, basketball, soccer, street hockey, and softball, operates under the auspices of the Intramural Recreational Council and is a major part of campus life for many Stockton students. It is designed primarily for members of the University community who do not have the time, ability, and/or interest to compete at the intercollegiate level. The intramural program provides wholesome, competitive, physical activity throughout the academic year. The Stockton intramural program's goals are to give participants an opportunity to develop sportsmanship, fair play, social poise, and team loyalty in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The intramural structure also gives students the opportunity to learn to compete within a system of rules and establish a long-term interest in sports and physical activity that will benefit them in later life.

Anyone interested in joining an intramural team should contact the Intramural Office in Lower I-Wing, L-003, 609-652-4873, or 609-626-6056. Anyone interested in organizing a team should also pick up an intramural roster, collect names and Z numbers of other students, faculty, or staff interested in playing, and submit the form to the office. Recreational Programs

Open recreational programs at Stockton provide opportunities for participation in a wide variety of sports and recreational activities for the entire University community. It is hoped that participants will improve physical fitness, establish relationships, and improve life skills through participation.

Athletics and Recreation Facilities

The athletic facilities are restricted to use by current students, faculty and staff. A valid Stockton ID card must be presented when entering the athletic facilities.

The Sports Center includes four full-sized basketball/volleyball courts, a fitness center, athletic training room, locker rooms, team rooms, and staff offices. The Center also provides seating for 5,000 people for large events.

G. Larry James Stadium is an outdoor facility that features a lighted soccer field and 400-meter track & field venue. The North Athletic Complex on Route 575 includes baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a lighted synthetic grass field that is used for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and intramurals. The campus also houses outdoor basketball courts and a street hockey rink.

The I-Wing Gymnasium includes a full-size basketball court, locker rooms, three racquetball courts, a squash court, and two weight rooms.

The Trustee Memorial Fitness Room, located on the third floor of the Sports Center, is open 7 days a week and hours vary by semester. The free weight room in I-Wing gym is also open 7 days per week during the semester. There is a Fitness Program Coordinator on staff to help you with questions about exercise programs or equipment use. Club Sports

The club sports program at Stockton is designed for students to create organizations that help to meet the co-curricular needs of the University community members. It is coordinated through the Office of Athletics and Recreation under the club guidelines described in the Student Organizations Manual. Club sports can be categorized as either competitive or recreational. Competitive club sports include men’s golf, ice hockey, men’s rowing, coed tennis, men’s volleyball, table tennis, ESports, and ultimate Frisbee. Recreational club sports include unified sports, bowling, cheerleading, fencing, jiu jitsu, judo, and powerlifting. Campus Police and Public Safety

Stockton University Police Department is a fully sworn law enforcement agency operating within the State of New Jersey and is responsible for maintaining law, order, and public safety within the University community. The Police Department is located on Vera King Farris Drive, near the intersection with Pomona Road (County Route 575), and a substation is located on the first floor of Kesselman Hall at the Atlantic City campus. The Police Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Uniformed police officers and security officers patrol the campus and surrounding roadways in marked and unmarked police vehicles, on bicycle, and on foot in order to respond to any emergency or request for police services.

Campus Safety

Police officers and other police department personnel are available to conduct talks with any student or groups on campus. These talks are designed to educate the community about the Police Department and the various techniques that can be used to prevent crime and promote safety.

All students are encouraged to be mindful of the need to exercise prudence with respect to their personal safety at all times on and off campus. Accordingly, all students are advised to plan their route and take well-lit walkways when traveling through the campus. Never walk alone, especially at night. Stockton’s Police Department offers many programs and services to the community in its efforts to advance public safety. Some of the programs are:

Emergency Operations Planning

The University has extensive emergency operations plans in place using an “all-hazards” approach to planning. The University works closely with the Galloway Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Atlantic County OEM and New Jersey State Police OEM in developing and testing these plans. Incident Command System (ICS) is used in the management of these plans. Plans are tested annually and updated in accordance with needs.

Emergency Text Message System

Stockton’s Emergency Alerts text messaging system enables the University to send urgent text messages to subscribers’ cell phones in an emergency.

Career Education & Development

The staff in Career Education & Development are available to help students develop, evaluate and implement career and life plans through a variety of programs and services. The following are some of the services offered by Career Education & Development:

Career Coaching

Coaching sessions help students identify skills, interests and values, and relate them to specific majors and career/life goals. Career Coached will also critique resumés, job search letters and graduate school essays as well as prepare students for a job search or graduate school selection. Contact the coach to take advantage of career coaching services.

Handshake

Handshake allows students to use an online scheduling module to schedule career advising, appointments; search for and apply for job and internship opportunities; review information on resumé writing, cover letter writing, and interviewing basics; post and manage multiple resumés, cover letters and other employment related documents; and maintain an online personal calendar for special events including career fairs, etiquette dinners, and alumni panel discussions.

Career Fairs

These events host numerous employers from the private, governmental, and non-profit sectors who are available to discuss career and internship opportunities within their organizations. Career Education & Development’s website lists specific dates and details.

Career Ambassador Program

Through this program, professionally trained student mentors help fellow students with the career planning process. Activities include reviewing resumés, facilitating workshops and presentations, providing job search guidance, and assisting in the utilization of Career Success Studio resources. Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF)

The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program is designed to meet the educational and financial needs of students who meet the household income guidelines set forth by the State of New Jersey. The EOF Program focuses on holistic development by providing academic life coaching, and opportunities for leadership development, service learning and undergraduate research. This type of support will lead to an increase in confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging.

The Office of Event Services and Campus Center Operations serves as a centralized location for the scheduling, planning, and management of campus-wide events for both internal and external group sponsors. In addition to scheduling facilities on the Galloway campus, the office coordinates support services for events including room setup, audio-visual equipment and Campus Police services. The office also manages announcements posted on the campus television system airing on Channel 119.1 and the electronic signs located on Vera King Farris Drive.

The Office of Event Services and Campus Center Operations also sponsors programs and services promoting the Campus Center as an inviting and inclusive environment. The office manages building operations for the Campus Center including the Information Desk, a lost and found depository, student event ticketing services, and the Game Room. Financial Aid

Stockton University’s Office of Financial Aid is committed to assisting all students in obtaining financial resources including grants, scholarships, loans and part-time employment to pursue their education. Information about the application and awarding processes for financial assistance and descriptions of federal, state and institutional aid programs are available at stockton.edu/finaid. The Director of Financial Aid has been designated as the University officer responsible for preparing and disseminating information on all student aid programs at the University, excluding programs administered by Stockton Foundation and the Alumni Association.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Students seeking to apply for financial aid at Stockton University should file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online each year at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA is typically available for completion as early as October 1st for the following academic year. The FAFSA is used in evaluating all applicants for federal, state, institutional and private sources of funding. Students should include Stockton’s Federal School Code —009345 when filing. To be eligible for financial assistance through federal aid programs, a student must be matriculated and an American citizen or eligible non-citizen of the United States. New Jersey Dreamer students are not eligible for Federal Student Aid; however, they may be eligible for New Jersey State as well as institutional financial aid programs. NJ Dreamers will file the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application at hesaa.org each year to be considered for state and institutional aid programs.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

To receive financial aid, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward the attainment of a degree. The Office of Financial Aid evaluates student academic records annually in June. Students enrolled in summer classes will be evaluated in August. This evaluation will include all prior terms of attendance, including periods in which the student did not receive financial aid. Additionally, the completion ratio test (PACE) includes accepted transfer credits.

This policy was developed in accordance with requirements by Federal Regulations (Part II 34 CFR Part 668), the State of New Jersey N.J.A.C. 9:7-2.10 and Stockton’s institutional policy. In order to maintain financial aid eligibility, the student needs to meet the following minimum standards.

Undergraduate students must successfully complete at least 67% of their cumulative attempted credits, including transfer credits; and must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative academic GPA at the end of each spring semester.
Graduate students must successfully complete at least 67% of their cumulative attempted credits and maintain a cumulative academic GPA of 3.0. at the end of each spring semester.
All students may not exceed the maximum timeframe for degree completion. The maximum timeframe for degree completion is 150% of the program's published length of academic program, measured in credit hours. All attempted credits count toward this limit, even if the student did not receive financial aid or had extenuating reasons for not completing the credits. Transferred credits are included in the maximum timeframe. See below for the maximum number of credits a student may attempt for each degree type:
- Bachelor: 192
- Master/Doctoral (excluding DPT): 54
- DPT: 167

At the time of each evaluation, a student who has not achieved the required GPA, or who is not successfully completing his or her educational program at the required pace, is no longer eligible to receive financial aid. Students who do not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress may have the option to appeal if there were extenuating circumstances that prohibited the student from maintaining SAP.

The Satisfactory Academic Progress policy and appeal procedure is available on the Office of Financial Aid’s website at stockton.edu/sap. All students eligible for aid should obtain the Institutional Academic Progress Policy for federal and state financial aid. The full policy also addresses probation, termination, appeal processes, reinstatement of aid, repayment and transfer credits.

Students experiencing academic problems should visit the Tutoring Center for advice and assistance. This provides a variety of tutorial services at no direct cost to students. More information on SAP is available at stockton.edu/sap.

Withdrawals and Financial Aid Impact

Financial aid is disbursed at the beginning of the semester with the expectation that a student will successfully complete the enrollment term. Aid is earned as the enrollment term progresses. In cases where a students’ enrollment status changes (e.g., withdrawal, suspension, expulsion, medical leave), the amount of financial aid earned must be determined utilizing the Return of Title IV funds formula, and in some cases, the aid must be reduced and returned to the program/government. The value of the students’ aid may change as well. More information is available on the Office of Financial Aid’s website at stockton.edu/financialaid/disbursements-adjustments.

Sometimes a student stops attending classes but does not notify the University. This is referred to an unofficial withdrawal. At the end of each semester, the Office of Financial Aid reviews students who did not earn any academic credit – the student either received all failing grades or a combination of W’s and F’s. In accordance with federal and state rules using the last date of attendance, a determination is made. A student who unofficially withdrew did not earn the aid that was disbursed, and a calculation must be performed to determine the amount of unearned aid that must be returned. Both types of withdrawals, official or unofficial, may result in aid being removed from the student’s account resulting in a balance owed to the University. Financial aid recipients are strongly encouraged to speak with the Office of Financial Aid prior to withdrawing.

Repeated Coursework Guidelines

According to federal regulations, students are only able to receive Title IV Aid (federal financial aid) for any previously passed course one time. This means that once a student passes a course, financial aid will only pay for the student to take that course one more time, regardless of whether they pass or fail the course the second time. If a student enrolls in a previously repeated and passed course for a third time, the course will not count towards the student’s overall enrollment for federal financial aid purposes and the student will not receive federal aid to pay for this course.

These regulations may impact a student’s eligibility to receive funds, including the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Direct Loans and Federal Work-Study.

The Office of Financial Aid does not determine if a student may repeat a class, only whether a student may be eligible for financial aid for a repeated class. Visit stockton.edu/finaid for more information.

Academic Engagement Process

Before any financial aid may be disbursed, the University must confirm that the student has begun attendance/academic activity. In accordance with federal regulations, and at the beginning of each course, faculty will confirm each student’s status via the academic engagement process. The Office of Financial Aid monitors this process and makes any required adjustment to aid. Grant and scholarship aid will be reduced for students when the number of credits confirmed is less than full-time; student loans will not be distributed if the student is confirmed in less than six credits. Students are notified if aid is reduced. It is the student’s responsibility to follow-up with their instructors and/or ensure they are attending the correct section/courses.

Other Financial Assistance Programs

Student Assistant Program

The Student Assistant Program allows the University to hire students with specific skills who need funds to meet their college expenses. It is not necessary for students to apply for financial aid to be considered for a student assistant position. Under the program, students work an average of 20 hours a week when classes are in session. In general, the salary paid is at least equal to the current minimum wage.

Some graduate assistantships are available to support degree-seeking graduate students. Graduate Assistantships are meant to enhance the student’s educational experience, with the duties involved serving as a meaningful experience. Individual programs make selections, with the final appointment offered through the Office of Graduate Studies. If an interview is required, an individual program will contact candidates.

Stockton University Foundation and Scholarships

Awarded to students already enrolled at the University, this program is based on academic merit. In some cases, other criteria (student’s major, residency, financial need, etc.) specified by the scholarship sponsor must also be met. A scholarship brochure is published annually outlining available scholarships and criteria for each award. Applications are available in January and must be submitted by the deadline specified on the form.

Graduate Fellowships and Scholarships

Awards are available on a limited basis for some graduate programs. Generally, merit-based, University fellowships and scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to degree-seeking graduate students. Fellowships and scholarships do not require the student to perform services for the University and are awarded without regard to financial need.

Board of Trustees Fellowships for Distinguished Students

The Stockton Board of Trustees Fellowships for Distinguished Students program supports student- initiated projects of undergraduate research and/or creative work in keeping with the educational philosophy and mission of Stockton University. Fellowship awards in amounts up to $1,000 each are provided semi-annually contingent upon available funds. While fellowships are intended to be utilized during time periods when the University is not in normal academic session (i.e., winter and summer semester breaks), projects that extend into the academic semester will be considered. First Ospreys

First Ospreys is a retention initiative that celebrates, supports, and prepares first-generation students to ensure successful completion of their undergraduate studies. First-generation students are those whose parents or guardians have not obtained a four-year college degree. First Ospreys is committed to raising awareness about the experience, knowledge, and value that first-generation students bring to the campus community.

First Ospreys aims to:

Provide social, academic, and post-graduate preparatory resources and support to first-generation students
Connect students to existing services and resources to successfully navigate their college experience
Help first-generation students get involved and develop a sense of belonging on campus
Provide resources to faculty and staff to equip them to optimally support first-generation students

Food Service

Stockton Dining

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served during the academic year by Chartwells Higher Education across both the Galloway and Atlantic City Campuses. The Campus Center includes Dunkin’ (in the Coffee House) and the Osprey Food Court, with various dining options, such as Chick-fil-A. Lakeside features The Lodge (late-night grill), Lakeside Street Subs (make your own substation), and The Market (offering household and convenience items). Operating on the main campus are the Bean’s List Coffee Shop (featuring We Proudly Serve Starbucks) in E-Wing, and Einstein Brothers Bagels in C-Wing. Our all-you-care to eat facility, Food Hall at The Nest, is located in the N-Wing building of the Academic Spine. The Atlantic City dining facility includes AC Street Subs, Southside Bistro (offering grill items), and 500 Degrees Pizza. All dining locations on campus accept meal plans, cash, or credit/mobile wallet. All retail locations offer Boost Mobile ordering (Boostapp.io). Meal Plan

Stockton offers a variety of meal plans through Chartwells that may be purchased by any student attending the University. Meal plan descriptions and costs are available online at stockton.edu/bursars/meal-plans or at dineoncampus.com/su.

Health Insurance

Effective fall 2014, Stockton University no longer provides a student health insurance plan through the University; however, be aware that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a federal law effective Jan. 1, 2014, requires individuals to have health care insurance coverage or be subject to a penalty.

Identification Card/Osprey Card

The University offers students, faculty, and staff an alternative purchasing option. Your Osprey Card acts as a debit card for on-campus purchases. A select number of off-campus merchants also accept this card; visit ospreycash.com for more information and a list of merchants accepting the card. Cash cannot be withdrawn from this card. Visit the Bursar’s website for details about this convenient option.

Presentation of the ID card will be necessary for admission to certain activities and facilities, borrowing privileges at the Stockton Library and access to a student’s records.

Cards that have been lost or stolen must be reported to get.cbord.com/stockton. Cards may be rendered unreadable by tears, cuts, chemicals, excessive heat, x-rays, electricity, etc. Replacement ID cards will be provided at the Office of the Registrar upon payment of a $25 fee.

Immunization Requirements For All Students

Every undergraduate and graduate student enrolled full or part time at Stockton University is required to provide evidence of immunization as a prerequisite for enrollment and for residing on campus.

Measles - For students age 30 and younger, two doses of live measles virus vaccine (at least 30 days apart), or any vaccine combination containing live measles virus vaccine on or after the student’s first birthday.
Mumps - For students age 30 and younger, one dose of live mumps virus vaccine, or any vaccine combination containing live mumps virus vaccine on or after the student’s first birthday.
Rubella - For students age 30 and younger, one dose of live rubella virus vaccine, or any vaccine combination containing live rubella virus vaccine on or after the student’s first birthday.
Hepatitis B - For students age 30 and younger, three-dose series or the two-dose adolescent series (must specify Recombivax and been given between ages 11-15) accepted.
Documented laboratory evidence of immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella or Hepatitis B may be submitted in place of above vaccines.
Meningitis - All students under the age of 19 must show documentation of one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (protecting against the following strains: A, C, Y and W-135) received on or after the student’s 16th birthday, regardless of whether they are residential students or not. All residential students must show documentation of one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (protecting against the following strains: A, C, Y and W-135) received on or after the student’s 16th birthday, regardless of current age. For residential students, proof of vaccination must be presented prior to receiving a room key.
Meningitis B - Based on Meningitis Survey responses, students at increased risk for Meningitis may also be required to provide documentation of a completed series of Meningitis and Meningitis B.

The University must enforce student compliance within 60 days of enrollment.

Documented proof of immunity must be submitted to Student Health Services. Forms for this purpose are available from Student Health Services in West Quad 108 and on the Student Health Services website. Failure to submit the required documentation will result in a hold being placed on the student’s record. This hold will prevent class registration and other such activities. Students can submit original documentation signed by a licensed health care provider, a copy of a signed and authorized school record, or the completed and signed Immunization Information form by entering the information and uploading the documentation into the student health portal at immunization.stockton.edu, or submitting directly to the Office of Student Health Services in West Quad 108, telephone 609-626-3416, fax 609-626-5586.

Stockton University is committed to efficient and sustainable use of its resources. Portal

The goStockton portal is a campus-wide resource for news and information. Tabs are present for different University constituencies including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Within the tabs, content and announcement channels contain relevant information from registration and grade information to special events and emergency announcements.

Many campus offices and student organizations can be found on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).

Text Messaging

The University maintains an emergency text messaging system as one means of emergency communication. Students can update their emergency contact information by logging into the goStockton portal and clicking on ‘Update My Account’ in the upper left-hand section of the screen. Up to two additional contacts may be designated to receive emergency text messages.

In addition, the University uses its Osprey Updates text messaging system to share important information to students.

Information Technology Services

The Office of Information and Technology Services provides many resources to meet and support technology needs.

University Responsibility

Information Technology Services will assign an official go.stockton.edu email account to each student. Various offices within the University will send official individual or group communications. For example, subject matter may relate to enrollment, academic advisement, financial responsibilities, University policies or conduct. Faculty determine how email will be used in their classes and should specify their requirements and expectations in course syllabi.

In general, mass emailing is not supported by the University. Routine messages for members of the University community can be posted through the goStockton portal, listservs, or Stockton’s website.

Student Responsibility

International Students

The international student population is a very important part of the Stockton community. The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) helps international students with their transition to life at Stockton. Upon arrival at Stockton, international students must participate in a mandatory orientation to complete the SEVIS check-in process. OGE also provides information to international students about maintaining their legal status, transfer, international travel, work authorization, and other valuable resources. International students are encouraged to participate in activities sponsored by OGE, the Office of Student Development, and the Success Scholars program to improve their communication skills, exchange cultural knowledge, and contribute to the diversity, inclusion, and internationalization of Stockton University. Stockton does not provide personal legal counsel or representation for students or staff. Persons who require legal assistance should contact local legal aid agencies or private attorneys.

Library/Richard E. Bjork Library

Stockton’s Richard E. Bjork Library is integral to a student’s work and development at the University. Its collection covers a wide range of subjects and materials: print books and ebooks, online journals, newspapers, databases, streaming video, recreational audiobooks, special collections of local interest, archival material, and government documents. The library website provides access to these collections and open-access content through its FlashFind search platform and connects students to our interlibrary loan service for borrowing additional materials. Students may borrow books, media, and other materials by presenting their valid Stockton ID at the information desk. Stockton alumni and residents of New Jersey are also welcome to use the collections and to borrow from the library.

The Bjork Library is currently undergoing a massive renovation to be completed in Fall 2026. During the renovation period, the library is temporarily housed in C/D Atrium, in between C-Wing and D-Wing, on Main Campus. In C/D Atrium, there are computer stations, printers, scanners, copiers, collaborative seating for group work, the information desk, book checkout, interlibrary loan, and library staff. Information about quiet study locations and bookable study rooms can be found on the library website. Additional library staff will be temporarily housed in H-Wing, C-Wing, and Pomona House. Office locations and contact information can be found on the library website’s Contact Our Staff page.

The updated library will be completed in Fall 2026 and offer various spaces that support individual and group work throughout its three floors. The Library Learning Commons will be crafted to create a dynamic and collaborative learning environment, featuring group study spaces, innovative technologies, and research support.

The library provides all academic programs with a subject librarian, who supports the research, information, and course needs of program faculty, students, and staff. Librarians help with research and assignment needs, conduct library instruction sessions, and are available for one-on-one consultations via appointment. Additionally, general information services are provided at the Library’s Service Desk, via phone, and via our AskUs! Chat service at the library website.

The Archives and Special Collections, collects, organizes, preserves, and provides access to unique collections related to all aspects of Stockton and the general history and culture of southern New Jersey. The books in Special Collections cover many topics, including New Jersey history and local genealogy. There are also rare books, publications by Stockton and New Jersey authors, and other works focusing on regional politics, geography, and the environment. The Digital Collections repository provides open access to Stockton’s publications and historical documents, unique and specialized collections, and the intellectual and artistic work of the Stockton community.

Mail Services

Letter Mail

Students living on campus in Galloway are automatically assigned mailboxes at the beginning of the semester. The information is sent to the student’s Stockton e-mail account just before the semester starts. All student mailboxes are located alongside the mailroom in lower F-wing. Please remember to check your mailbox frequently. Combinations should be safeguarded to prevent identity theft.

Students living on campus in Atlantic City do not get mailboxes. Students will receive e-mails for all letter mail which can then be picked up in the mailroom located in Kesselman Hall. More mailing information will be sent to the student’s e-mail account just before the semester starts.

When a student moves from either campus for any reason, the mailing address is automatically canceled, and all mail is returned to the sender.

Receiving Packages

When your package arrives at the mailroom from the mail carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) the tracking barcode is entered into our system. You will receive an email from mailroom@stockton.edu alerting you that your package is available for pickup and what ZONE in which it is located. One email will be sent for each package you receive. You must wait to receive this email. Although your tracking information from the sender may indicate the package has been delivered, this does not mean the package is in the mailroom’s possession. Please do not go directly to the local post office to pick up any mail. Only Stockton mailroom staff are permitted to retrieve mail from the post office. You must present your Stockton picture ID and provide the ZONE location to pick up your items at the mailroom window. There are now package lockers just outside the Atlantic City mailroom window. Packages assigned to this zone may be retrieved 24/7. Students are not permitted to pick up packages addressed to someone else (exceptions based on a case-by-case basis).

The Stockton University Multicultural Center (MC) is a vibrant hub that welcomes and serves all members of our community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other campus visitors. The center provides our visitors with a home away from home and a source of educational opportunities.

The Multicultural Center serves as a resource for the entire campus community while placing the experiences of diverse and historically marginalized groups at the center. Specifically, the center cultivates counter-spaces to support the engagement, belonging, and development of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) students. Our center provides support and advocacy for students from underrepresented or marginalized groups. We offer resources and guidance on navigating campus life, addressing discrimination, and finding community.

The Multicultural Center is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community by promoting understanding, respect, and collaboration among students of diverse backgrounds. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where all students can feel like they are seen, valued, and heard so that they may engage in meaningful dialogues about identity, culture, and social justice. We host a variety of events including cultural celebrations, game nights, bi-weekly and monthly series that help create space to discuss sensitive topics that impact those with historically marginalized identities. These events aim to enhance cultural awareness and provide opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.

The Multicultural Center also maintains a library of books on various identities, cultural and social issues, and other helpful topics. Students are welcome to use these materials for personal enrichment or academic research.

PREP Team

The Multicultural Center is supported by the PREP Team, which stands for “Proud Resilient Educated Peers,” who serve as Champions for Change. These are the student workers that help support the center and its efforts. They strive to build community and enhance the sense of belonging for all students who use the center. Student Life on Campus

A Stockton education includes both the traditional curricular aspects (described in the chapter on Academic Life) and a co-curricular aspect.

Stockton’s student life includes a broad range of activities including cultural programs and lectures, extensive wellness and recreation programs, intramural and intercollegiate athletics, and a number of student-initiated activities and events, all of which combine to create a vibrant atmosphere at the University.

Stockton University offers a variety of student-led organizations that program around a diverse range of topics and offer leadership opportunities to students. Specific organizations have been established by graduate students to augment academic work in their graduate program. This approach to student life helps students develop a capacity for self-direction, self-confidence and continuous learning. The University helps students realize their goals and potential. The mission of the Office of Student Development is to provide opportunities that are purposeful and holistic. The Office of Student Development provides several opportunities for students to get involved at Stockton University. The office oversees more than 200 student organizations, including more than 30 fraternities and sororities. The office also directly advises Student Senate, Graduate Student Council, Campus Religious Council, Stockton Entertainment Team, and the Greek Council. These student organizations offer a range of leadership opportunities for their members and plan a variety of social and educational events open to all Stockton students.

The Office of Student Development also supports major University initiatives and events. These include Get Involved Fair, University Weekend, the Student, Faculty, and Staff Dinner, Leadership Lunch Series, and cultural and theme-based celebrations. The office is always looking for new ways to broaden the educational experience of the students through leadership training, conferences, service-learning initiatives, and more.

Commuter Connection

The Office of Student Development is responsible for addressing the concerns and needs of the off-campus and commuter population at Stockton. The office is here to provide a comprehensive range of programs and support and serve as a source of information for students. It is the office’s goal to help integrate off-campus and commuter students into student life and student activities, as well as encourage academic achievement and leadership development.

Commuters On The Go is a student organization designated to build community and meet the needs of Stockton commuters. Commuter students will appreciate the convenience of lockers available for rent in the Campus Center. OspreyAdvantage is a student’s co-curricular record managed by the Office of Student Development. It is accessible to all students at stockton.edu/ospreyhub. This co-curricular record is designed to capture students’ out-of-the-classroom experiences and involvement during their time at Stockton University. This includes all experiences that complement a student’s academic experience, including membership in a student organization, fraternity, or sorority, University-wide leadership positions and attendance at educational, leadership, or service-related programs. It gives students an opportunity to reflect on or articulate leadership roles, accomplishments, and personal growth and development. Students are encouraged to use OspreyAdvantage as a resource when applying for professional positions and admission into graduate school.

Student Senate

The Student Senate is the governing entity of student organizations affiliated with Stockton University. It is a representation of the student population. In addition, the Student Senate is responsible for reviewing requests for allocations of funds from the University’s General Fee and for recommending to the Dean of Students such allocations. The Student Senate will provide the means whereby the members of the student body may express themselves effectively in the programs that directly affect their intellectual, social, and economic welfare. It will promote active citizenship by developing and promoting student responsibility by providing practice in democratic living and promote school spirit at Stockton University.

Campus Religious Council

The goals of the Campus Religious Council are to assist interested students in spiritual development, provide a forum for dialogue, and provide interested members of the campus community with reasonable opportunity to express their faith(s). Council membership is open to all organizations that choose to join with a religious or spiritual main goal. These student organizations work to connect students with local places of worship and their leaders. The Campus Religious Council maintains and manages the Meditation Room, located in F-Wing, which is open and accessible to all students.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Fraternities and sororities are a long-standing tradition on college campuses with a history of scholarship and service, providing students with opportunities for involvement and leadership. At Stockton, our fraternities and sororities focus on our five core values: Academic Achievement, Civic Responsibility, Leadership Development, Personal Growth, and Lifelong Friendships.

The Office of Student Development supports Fraternity and Sorority Life by offering training in the areas of new member development, values congruence, risk management, and leadership. Recognized groups are held accountable for compliance with national and campus policies. Stockton University strongly discourages student participation in any group (or its activities) not recognized, as the University (or national organization) does not provide any support or oversight of its members.

All prospective members of fraternities and sororities at Stockton must meet the following minimum standards for membership in a chapter:

Minimum of 12 credits earned at Stockton or 12 credits transferred and accepted by Stockton University (excluding AP credits or credits earned while still enrolled in high school)
Minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Stockton University and considered in good standing

Graduate Student Council

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is an organization of graduate students who are diverse individuals with unique skills, experiences, and talents. The GSC values this diversity as it enriches the students’ lives and educational experiences. The GSC is committed to the education, the professions, and the advancement of graduate students at the University. They also value the opportunity to meet and interact with fellow graduate students, faculty, administration, and alumni.

Stockton Entertainment Team

The Stockton Entertainment Team (SET) is the primary programming board on campus and is responsible for implementing a diverse calendar of programs based on student feedback and interest. This student-run organization plans various social, cultural, and educational events to broaden the horizons of students. SET plans a wide variety of programming so there is always something for everyone no matter what your interests might be. SET meetings take place every Thursday at 5 p.m. Interested students should contact the Office of Student Development for meeting location and details. New members and ideas for programs are always welcome! Attending meetings is a great, easy way to get involved on campus.

More than 2,800 students reside on-campus in three distinct residential areas — the apartment complexes, the residence halls and Atlantic City — each with its own distinct lifestyle. All housing facilities have Wi-Fi, are wired for computer access and are furnished completely.

Students are permitted to sign up for 12-month housing contracts in any housing area. Summer housing is in Atlantic City or Galloway. Students will have to relocate from their assignment for summer housing..

All students residing in Stockton housing must provide proof of vaccinations as outlined on the Student Health Services immunization requirements website.

General upkeep of the housing complex grounds is provided by the University, which is also responsible for preventive maintenance of the housing units and general painting and refurbishing annually. Day-to-day upkeep and cleaning of interior rooms and common areas is the responsibility of the occupants. (Details are included in the residential agreement.) On-campus services include laundry facilities and shuttle service.

Apartments

Approximately 2,000 students reside in annually designated apartment and suite housing in five unique residential areas: Housing 1, Housing 4, Housing 5, Chris Gaupp, and Atlantic City. Housing 1 is a garden-style apartment complex with approximately750 beds. Each two-bedroom unit houses four to five students. Housing 4 consists of eight buildings with 250 beds; each apartment accommodates four residents, two in each bedroom. Housing 5 consists of six buildings of four private bedroom suites offering 388 beds.

Kesselman Hall offers approximately 500 beds in varying apartment styles, including studios, 2 person privates, 4 person shared, 4 person private, and 6 person private apartments. The complex is located just off the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk, providing beach front complex accommodations.

Parkview Hall offers approximately 400 beds in varying apartment styles, including studios, 4 person shared, 4 person private, and 5 person private apartments with a unique experience of ocean views and views of O’Donnell Memorial Park in the historic Chelsea neighborhood in Atlantic City.

Apartments are furnished with basic furniture; additional furniture is permitted if approved by and registered with the Office of Residential Life. Units are heated and air conditioned; all utilities are provided by the University. Several special interest housing options are available throughout the residential complexes.

Residence Halls

The Residence Halls offer a more traditional college lifestyle for the first-year experience. Residence Halls consist of singles, and doubles with minifridge and microwave and common living room and communal bath. Housing 2 provides suite-style living in 11 buildings housing more than 500 students. Housing 3 consists of five buildings with beds for more than 300 students. Residence Hall units are furnished with furniture; additional furniture is not permitted unless approved by and registered with the Office of Residential Life. Units are heated and air conditioned; all utilities are provided by the University.

Living and Learning Communities

Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) at Stockton University provide students with the opportunity to connect their academic interests and personal passions with their residential experience. Each LLC is built around a shared theme or academic focus—such as leadership, social justice, or identity exploration—and offers students the chance to live alongside peers who share similar goals and values. Through intentional programming, collaboration with faculty, and community-building initiatives, LLCs help students engage deeply with their coursework, develop meaningful relationships, and enhance their overall sense of belonging at Stockton.

LLCs are a core part of Stockton’s mission to foster student success through holistic learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Residents in these communities participate in special programs, workshops, and trips designed to support academic growth and personal development. Faculty members and professional staff collaborate to create a supportive environment that integrates learning, leadership, and community engagement. Whether attending an exclusive lecture, working on a group project, or joining a themed event, students in LLCs are encouraged to “Live Your Best Nest” by making the most of their time at Stockton both inside and outside the classroom.

Recovery housing offers nine- or 12-month housing options for students in recovery. Residents have access to University resources such as Wellness Services, which include counseling services, psychiatric services, on-campus Recovery meetings, health services, nutritional counseling, and collegiate recovery community programming. For consideration, residents must meet with the Addictions Counseling Supervisor and Director of Residential Life or designee. Recovery Housing is home to a voluntary community of students who wish to live with others committed to recovery and provide support to each other so that all can excel academically, sustain recovery, and build lifelong friendships. Property Insurance

The personal belongings of students in the apartments and residence halls are not insured by the University. It is highly recommended that you check to see if you are covered by your parents’ or guardians’ homeowner’s insurance or purchase a renter’s policy yourself.

Student Media

The University offers several channels through which students can express themselves and learn communication skills. Opportunities abound for writers, graphic artists, photographers, videographers, and others. Students share their creativity on the radio, on camera, or in print. The Office of Student Development or the School of Arts and Humanities can help students get involved with any of Stockton’s student media.

WLFR 91.7 FM, the University radio station, has been on air for more than 35 years and on the Web since 2004. Students gain experience both on the air and behind the scenes working in the studio on the second floor of the Campus Center, Suite 205. The phone number for the radio station is 609-652-4780.

Students looking for creative outlets in print media can participate in The Argo independent student newspaper or The Path, the University’s yearbook. The Path can be reached by email, thepath@stockton.edu, or by calling 609-652-4525. These publications offer opportunities for writers, editors, photographers, visual artists, and marketing staff. Some paid positions are available for student staff on both The Argo and The Path.

The Stockpot is a literary magazine of original student work published each April by the Stockton Literature Society. The student editor is supported by an editorial board of students and faculty.

Student Success Scholars Program

Student Success Scholars Program is a retention program committed to empowering students to succeed at Stockton and beyond. The program strives to utilize campus-wide resources to identify, evaluate, and retain students who join the program. The program, through the efforts of the Student Success Scholars team, will facilitate a student’s receipt of coordinated support services with the guidance of a faculty/staff or peer mentor. Student Transition Programs

The Office of Student Transition Programs promotes belonging, inclusion, engagement, and development starting with new student orientation and continuing all the way through graduation. We aim to provide intentional and integrated programs that support retention and close equity gaps. Campus Shuttle Service

Stockton offers Galloway campus shuttle services for students, faculty, and staff between the North Lot and the residential areas of Housing 1, 4 and 5 to and from Lot 1 (near the Campus Center) and Housing 2/3, N-Wing to and from parking lots 8A, 8B and 8C. NJ Transit Quik Tik Student Discount

NJ Transit Bus Service

Atlantic City Rail Line

NJ TRANSIT operates the Atlantic City Rail Line with service between Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station and the Atlantic City Rail Terminal and intermediate stops along the way, including access to Stockton’s Galloway Campus via connecting service and direct access to Stockton’s Hammonton campus. Bicycles on NJ TRANSIT Buses and Trains

University Bookstore / Follett

The University Bookstore maintains convenient weekday hours throughout the year. At the beginning of each term, extended hours are maintained for the first two weeks. The Bookstore, located on level one off the Grand Hall in the Campus Center, sells trade books (including paperbound), faculty-authored books, study aids, general and special school supplies, personal computers, imprinted clothing and gifts, stationery items and special services, including class ring sales, academic regalia rentals, and special-order services as well as textbooks, technical and reference books, supplies, and sundry items.

A textbook list for the semester is available online, as is information about the merchandise carried in the store. Certain textbooks are available for rental; check Follett’s website for available titles. Unwanted textbooks may be sold back to the bookstore at any time throughout the year. However, the best time to sell back books is at the end of the semester during final exams. The buyback price depends solely on supply and national demand. The bookstore’s website gives details of the buyback policy and lists most wanted titles and prices.

University Facilities

Stockton University has developed a Master Plan to address the needs of its students, state residents, and the environment within which the University resides. The vision for growth expressed by this Master Plan involves significant construction and development. Stockton’s facilities are designed to support the academic mission of the University and its vibrant co-curricular life. Athletics and Recreation Facilities

Stockton’s diversified Athletics and Recreation program is supported by excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. University community members actively utilize the different facility areas through a variety of intercollegiate, intramural, club, and recreational sports programming. In addition, open recreational schedules are published throughout the year for individuals preferring not to participate in any structured program.

The Sports Center includes four full-size basketball/volleyball courts, a fitness center, athletic training room, locker rooms, team rooms, and staff offices. The Center also provides seating for 5,000 people for large events.

G. Larry James Stadium is an outdoor facility that features a lighted soccer field and 400-meter track & field venue. The North Athletic Complex on Route 575 includes baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a lighted synthetic grass field used for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and intramurals. The campus also houses outdoor basketball courts and a street hockey rink.

The I-Wing Gymnasium includes a full-size basketball court, locker rooms, three racquetball courts, a squash court, and two weight rooms. For more information, go to stocktonathletics.com.

Campus Center

Students will find most of their business, academic and co-curricular services within this one building. Offices conveniently located in the Campus Center include Admissions, Career Education & Development, Financial Aid, Bursar, Student Records, Dean of Students, Academic Advising, Event Services and Campus Center Operations, and Student Development.

The Campus Center is a destination for both dining and retail, including an expanded bookstore featuring Stockton logo items and more, a coffee house and game room featuring Dunkin, and a 400-seat food court featuring a variety of dining options. Lockers are available for commuter students to reserve through the Campus Center Information Desk. The Campus Center has more than 20 offices for student clubs and organizations and a student conference room on the upper level. A student media suite is also located on the upper level containing the radio station, WLFR 91.7FM, and The Argo student newspaper.

The Campus Center offers several venues for hosting events including an 8,800 square-foot event room, four smaller meeting rooms, one mid-sized meeting room, and a 254-seat performance theater.

The Campus Center has more than two dozen security cameras and more than a dozen public viewing, flat panel TVs for broadcasting advertisements, public service announcements, entertainment, sports, and news. Other amenities include an ATM, computer terminals, and electronic device charging stations.

The Campus Center Information Desk provides services such as general information, event ticketing services, and a lost and found depository.

The 154,000 square foot Campus Center was awarded a gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment) certification for its green building design, construction, and operation.

The Noyes Arts Garage, Atlantic City

The Arts Garage is an anchor in the arts district of Atlantic City promoting education, and providing resources for emerging artists, all while enriching the community. The venue houses artist studios, galleries, shops, a café, a flexible workshop/classroom, and hosts special events throughout the year. In addition, the Arts Garage is the satellite gallery for the Noyes Museum of Art and the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey.

Housing 4 Commons Building – E-Sports Center

The Esports Center, located in the Housing 4 Commons building, serves as a vibrant hub for gaming, competition, and community at Stockton University. Designed to support both casual and competitive players, the center features high-performance gaming PCs, console stations, and lounge-style seating that encourages collaboration and friendly play. Students can participate in intramural tournaments, varsity-level competitions, or simply connect with others who share a passion for gaming and digital entertainment. Beyond gameplay, the Esports Center promotes teamwork, strategic thinking, and digital literacy—skills that extend well beyond the screen—making it an exciting and inclusive addition to the residential experience.

Instructional Facilities

Stockton’s instructional facilities include classrooms, performance and lecture halls, studios, music rooms, and specialized laboratories. Each is carefully designed to create the most effective learning environment. Stockton University continues to expand its footprint by offering academic courses and continuing education programs at several off-campus sites including Kramer Hall in Hammonton and Stockton University at Manahawkin.

Lodge at Lakeside

The Lodge, a focal point for student programming and co-curricular activities, is located behind Cedar Court between the Housing 1 apartments and Lake Fred. The Lodge houses a large multipurpose room with built-in stage with sound and lighting, an outdoor concert area, a computer lab, Residential Life office, market, deli, and grill.

The housing office that services the apartments can also be found at the Lodge. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the academic year, and Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. during the summer.

Marine Field Station

The Marine Field Station (MFS) is on the Mullica River-Great Bay estuary in Port Republic, NJ. The facility is a 15- and 30-minute drive from the Galloway and Atlantic City campuses, respectively. The MFS is also home to the University’s Coastal Research Center (CRC), a grant and contract-funded research group focusing on New Jersey’s coastal zone issues. The Field Station offers teaching and research laboratories, research vessels, sampling equipment, laboratory equipment, and a suite of marine technology instrumentation. The inshore research fleet consists of several shallow-draft vessels ranging from 16’ – 24’. The 36’ x 14’ R/V Petrel serves program needs in coastal oceanography, hydrographic survey and fisheries. The facilities, resources, and staff at the MFS and the CRC are available for student collaboration and support for coastal research and monitoring projects.

Noyes Museum of Art, Galloway and Hammonton

Stockton and the Noyes Museum of Art maintain a partnership to blend the arts and education. The partnership provides a venue for artwork, musical performances, continuing education classes, and other community activities. Performing Arts Center

The Performing Arts Center (PAC) is the venue for student productions as well as a diverse season of high-quality professional theater, music, and dance performances. Stockton University at Manahawkin, Ocean County

Stockton University at Manahawkin encourages lifelong learning by providing individuals with Stockton’s accredited curriculum in a convenient Ocean County location. The site is home to the Accelerated Nursing B.S. degree. In addition, students are offered a variety of academic courses to experience Stockton’s Liberal Arts curriculum. The site also sponsors continuing and professional education seminars and other University-sponsored lectures, forums and workshops. Townsend Residential Life Center

Within the residence hall complex is the Townsend Residential Life Center (TRLC) designed primarily for expanded programming opportunities for resident students and the commuter community. Alcohol and Drug Education Program

The Alcohol and Drug Education program provides confidential counseling, assessment, and referral services for students. Services are available for students who are concerned about their substance use/abuse or are addicted to alcohol and/or drugs. Procedures for treatment options, including referral to intensive outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment centers, and community 12-step groups, are offered. Symptoms of chemical dependency are also reviewed.

Students can also receive counseling if they have a relationship (family or friend) with an alcoholic, addict, or problem drinker. For students living on campus who wish to remain sober and in recovery, we offer the Recovery Housing program, which is a residential community where students support each other’s continued sobriety. Recovery Housing offers nine- or 12-month option in an unmarked campus housing location. The program has a dedicated Resident Assistant, and Residential Life administrative staff who work in close coordination with the Director of Counseling and licensed counselors at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Certified Wellness Peer Education Program

Health Education provides a variety of health and life skills-related workshops to groups. Individual appointments are also available to discuss health-related topics. Opportunities are available for students to become certified wellness peer educators through a program designed to prepare students to educate and advocate for their peers’ well-being. They also present educational programs and participate in the promotion of events related to positive student development and overall community relations. Peer educators can choose to specialize in one or more important areas such as Career Development, Substance Abuse Prevention, Healthy Bodies/Healthy Minds, Sexual Health, and Sexual Assault Facts and Education.

Students who successfully complete NASPA’s Virtual Certified Peer Education (CPE) Training and certification exam can be considered to become a Wellness Peer Educator under the Department of Health Education.

Certified Alcohol and Drug Peer Education Program

Alcohol and Drug Grant Educators (ADGEs) strive to provide education that allow Stockton students to graduate not only with healthy minds, but with healthy responsible life choices as well. Certified ADGEs work within a college community to promote greater well-being, provide information about specific alcohol and drug related issues, increase awareness of care resources on campus, encourage responsible safe choice-making, and advocate for changing and challenging campus social norms regarding healthy behaviors. These students help peers make healthier lifestyle choices in regard to drug and alcohol use and healthy living. They also present educational programs and participate in the promotion of events related to ending the stigma of recovery and healthy living on campus offering sober activities and support. Peer educators can choose to specialize Collegiate Recovery focused programing or prevention and educational based alcohol and drug programming for the greater Stockton community.

Counseling and Psychological Services

Stockton’s Counseling Services staff provides short-term confidential counseling services to Stockton students. Individual and group counseling services are offered by a team of licensed mental health professionals from various disciplines within the mental health field. At the initial appointment, the student and the counselor decide which resources currently available at the center, at other campus offices, and/or in the community are best suited to help with concerns. Services include individual short-term therapy, group counseling, walk in services for urgent needs, outreach and consultation with faculty, staff and students.

Health Outreach, Promotion and Education (HOPE)

Health Outreach, Promotion and Education (HOPE) provides accurate health information to all Stockton students, staff, and faculty in a respectful, sensitive manner utilizing a holistic approach to health and wellness. Health education workshops on a variety of health-related topics can be provided to groups. Presentation topics and times are flexible. To request a Health Education program, please complete the online program request form found at: stockton.edu/wellness-center/health-education. Please note: a minimum of two weeks’ notice is needed for all requests. Individual appointments can also be scheduled by students, faculty, and staff Monday through Friday.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services is an outpatient clinic open to all students, with no charge for services rendered. Funds to operate this facility are provided through the Student Activity Fee paid by all students. Please check the University website at stockton.edu/wellness for services offered, hours of operation, immunization requirements and health insurance information. Please note that remote services are available from medical practitioners, including psychiatric services.

Students requiring emergency first aid treatment after regular Health Services hours or during semester breaks are advised to contact Stockton Police by calling 609-652-4390 or 911. Emergency treatment is also available at the Mainland Campus of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC), located on campus. Services provided by AtlantiCare will be charged to students by the hospital at regular rates. As an alternative to the emergency room, students requiring medical care for a non-life threatening condition after regular Health Services hours may wish to visit the AtlantiCare Physician Group Urgent Care Center at 110 E. Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway Township. While not a University facility, the Urgent Care Center is less than two miles from the campus entrance and operates seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Students should call 609-748-2100 for information about services, rates, and insurance.

Nutritionist

The nutritionist is available by appointment to provide individual confidential nutrition counseling to students regarding such issues as healthy eating strategies, eating for energy, weight management, gaining weight and sports nutrition. In addition, the nutritionist can assist students with nutritional medical concerns, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated blood cholesterol levels and eating disorders. Group workshops for students are offered regarding healthy eating and a non-diet approach to weight management. Group workshops are also offered for sports teams regarding optimal nutrition for performance.

The professional staff of the Learning Access Program (LAP) is available to assist students and faculty. Every effort will be made to provide assistance and/or referral so that individuals with physical, psychological or learning disabilities can participate fully in the life of the University community. Accessible Campus Housing

Spaces are available in both the residence halls and apartments for students with approved LAP accommodations, subject to availability.. Students with approved accommodations who elect to live in campus housing and who require the help of an attendant must first be approved through the LAP accommodation process, then are required to make approved arrangements to hire an attendant. Sexual Health and Reproductive Planning (SHARP)

SHARP is a fee-based clinic providing comprehensive reproductive health services for all students. Some of the services include pregnancy testing, exams, contraceptive methods, and testing and treatment for most sexually transmitted infections.

SHARP accepts most private health insurance including Medicaid, New Jersey. A sliding fee scale, based on income and family size, is in place for clients who do not qualify for any financial assistance. For information and appointments, call 856-365-3519, ext. 4.

The Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Center (WGSC) is a dedicated space on campus where students of all genders, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, and experiences are recognized, supported, and empowered. The WGSC enhances campus life by serving as a hub for gender, sexuality, and survivor resources. We are committed to:

Fostering an environment where all students — including those who identify as women, trans, non-binary, gender-fluid, gender-nonconforming — feel safe to authentically be themselves;

Addressing issues of power-based personal violence, sexual harm, gender-based inequities, and intersectional identity dynamics;

What We Offer

A lounge space: Drop in to the WGSC lounge for free coffee and tea, comfortable seating, a lending library, microwave/Keurig/toaster, and snacks. It’s a place to unwind, study, catch up with friends, or access support.

Individual & group support: We provide individual guidance and facilitated group experiences around topics such as gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, healthy relationships, consent and intimacy, allyship, and survivor support.

Programs & workshops: Signature offerings include our bystander-intervention program (see Green Dot below), “Safe Zone” ally training, salary-negotiation workshops (in partnership with AAUW), advocacy training, and special events that highlight feminist, queer, trans, and intersectional voices.

Resources & advocacy: The WGSC maintains referral links to campus counselling and health services, Residential Life and dining accommodations, Lactation and All-Gender restroom facilities, and external support hotlines. We also engage in bias prevention education, serve as a liaison for student groups, and consult on inclusive campus policies and programming.

Green Dot Bystander Intervention Strategy

At Stockton, we embrace the motto: red dots are bad, green dots are good. The Green Dot strategy trains Ospreys to act proactively and collectively to prevent power-based personal violence in our community. Through skill-building exercises and real-life scenarios, students learn how to speak up, intervene, and support one another — whether in the residence halls, classrooms, social spaces, or online.
