Program Introduction
The Master of Science in Accounting (MSAC) program prepares students for professional careers in accounting and business. The goals of the program are to provide a clear pathway to meet the 150-credit requirement for CPA licensure, equipping students with specialized knowledge, digital acumen, and technical competencies in key areas such as auditing, taxation, financial reporting, management accounting, and business analytics. The program is designed to launch students’ careers, through active learning and professional networks, by producing CPA-ready professionals who are empowered leaders possessing passion, knowledge, skills, values, and engaging perspectives. The program is designed for those with accounting or business undergraduate degrees. An accelerated dual-degree pathway is offered that leads to both a B.S. and an MS in Accounting that can be completed in as few as five years.
Students complete 30-36 credits which consist of 12-18 credits of core requirements, (depending upon undergraduate coursework completed) and 18 credits of electives. The core includes a required 3-credit internship. Electives are chosen based on a student’s interests and are designed to give students greater depth of expertise and specialization. Students will select electives from several areas (maximum of 9 credits per area) including Forensic Accounting, Business Analytics, Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Finance, or Marketing. Professional practice through a qualifying extended internship can also fulfill all or some of the elective credits. Students with business undergraduate degrees other than accounting are required to complete graduate-level foundational courses in financial accounting, taxation, and auditing.
Stockton University's School of Business has earned accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an international body whose accreditation has been earned by only 6 percent of the world's business programs.
